This large 122-room hotel is built around an old country house and is set in 40 acres of land. It also has its own nine-hole golf course. Forget the uninteresting keg only bar on the ground floor and go to the Sports Bar, down one floor beside the hotel gym instead. It can also be entered via its own entrance at the left hand side of the car park, as well as though the hotel. Although the main function of this bar is as a member’s bar, it is open to the general public as well. The bar itself has a raised area in one corner with a large TV for Sky sports, while a pool table provides alternative entertainment in the main part of the bar. It is a comfortable enough bar without getting the pulse racing, that’s what the gym next door is for.
