PUB CLOSED 2009 AND FUTURE UNCERTAIN. This former Charrington pub is host to a fantastic collection of artefacts relating to both local history and militaria which have to be seen to be believed: photos, uniforms, flags, deactivated firearms, swords, musical instruments, enamel advertisements plus much more cover almost every inch of the walls! The place rivals Caterham’s East Surrey Museum! The wooden bar-back is also most impressive and a fine example of the genre. A real cider (and occasionally, perry) is served from containers behind the bar. The back room is used on alternate Saturday evenings for a Rock ‘n’ Roll band or disco and there is a quiz or Sunday evening. Armstrong-Siddeley enthusiasts will enjoy this pub. Games enthusiasts can choose between darts, pool and shove halfpenny. A pub that is really well worth a visit for the beer and ambience once visited it is very hard to leave. Plans were submitted in 2007 for demolition, but these were turned down.
