In a pleasant spot in the far corner of the village green, the Dukes Head only dates from around 1900, although there has been a pub on the site since at least 1711. The present building replaced one that burnt down in 1899. The single bar serves a number of different beamed areas including a separate restaurant. Here the walls have been attractively stripped back to the bare bricks, and a real fire is to be found here. The main bar has a wooden floor and some comfortable seats set back into the window. The subdued lighting helps to create a relaxing atmosphere throughout the pub. To the right of the bar is a raised area with darts and some local pictures on the wall. At the rear of the pub, leading to the garden is a small area containing a couple of electronic games. The food is homemade and most of the produce is locally sourced. Food is available 12-2:30 (12-4 Sunday) and 6-9:30 (not Sunday or Monday). Families are welcome until 9pm. Disabled access is from the car park. The guest beer tends to come from a regional brewer.
