It's a steep climb to reach this small single room pub, which is notable for its tiled-roofed front and side veranda and whose garden affords fine views of Redhill. The pub is around 150 years old and was named after the Italian soldier and popular hero, credited more than any other for laying the foundation of Italy's unification. He also visited England on a couple of occasions and several pubs were named in his honour. It was one of the last pubs in the area to gain a full licence. It was saved from demolition in 2017 by a community group which now runs the pub on a not for profit basis with any money made put back into improving the pub facilities. Outside opening hours community groups and charities use the pub for meetings or classes. One of the beers will be from Sharps and another will be from Pilgrim. The other two beers will be from local breweries. There is darts, a book corner and a Sunday meat raffle. A quiz is held every other Thursday and there are occasional live bands and karaoke nights. Many regulars and previous landlords have seen the ghost of Albert, an old coachman who used to tie his horse up outside. However, he means no harm and just sits on a stool at the left hand side of the bar.
