Courage Best Bitter, Directors
Vast establishment on two levels off the main A25 at the east end of the village. You can tell from the signs outside that owners Spirit Group would rather you call the place Millers and not the Plough so it is not surprising to find that this is more restaurant than pub, and quite successful it is too judging by the numbers of cars in the car park on a Sunday afternoon. Food is served all day from midday (11.30 Sunday) from an extensive menu until 10.00 (9:30 Sunday). Unusually, you do not need to go to the bar for drinks if you have ordered food, you can order them from one of several till points. Despite the concentration on food, the beer is remarkably good for what it is. There are several distinct areas, not all of which are obvious at first sight wander round a corner and there are another half dozen tables, then around another corner and there are more tables. It is mostly carpeted in what could be described as a bold pattern, while the area to the front and side of the bar is laid out in floorboards. Outside, the beer garden is also on a large scale and set out in two sections. The upper area is more of a patio while the lower one is grassed over and provides scintillating views of the extensive car park and a fenced play area for children. There is also a large umbrella for smokers. (see above) Symbols explained
