The Plough was a cosy country pub with a good old fashioned atmosphere, enhanced by the absence of any noisy machines. There were two bars, both painted in a subdued green colour. The split level Blackbrook Bar is where the locals tended to congregate, although the lower area was for dining only. The pub was several hundred years old and was a coaching inn. Although built as the Plough, it was known for a while in the 19th century as the William IV. A King & Barnes pub until that brewery was taken over by Badger, something which the pub never recovered from, leading to the pub closure in 2009. Left empty for a few years, in 2012 work was started to convert the building into houses. A sad end to what was a very fine pub.
