In a beautiful setting by the picturesque church and village green, the 17th century Royal Oak is situated in the centre of the village, and is a lovely place to sit outside on a summer's day. The Felday Brewery is part of the pub, operating from a custom made brewery towards the car park. Legacy is their regular beer and one of the guest beers may be a seasonal beer from them. One of the other guests will be Big Smoke Solaris. There is a sixth handpumup which is used for a real cider. There is a small entrance porch leading to a cosy bar where homemade meals are served from 12-9:30 each day with breakfast on weekends from 9-midday. At one end of the bar is an attractive fire. There is further dining space at the back up some stairs, which is sometimes used for functions, and leads into the back garden where there is shelter, lights and heating for smokers and which can also be accessed from the car park. There is also a front garden and the pub is a popular destination with walkers and cyclists (for whom there is a lockable cycle rack) and dogs are welcome.
