Fuller's London Pride Harveys Sussex Best Bitter Young's Bitter
A pub has been on this site since the 17th century, but has been burnt down and rebuilt on more than one occasion. The present pub is named after the 1838 Derby winner, which won its one and only race. The pub is very civilised and is situated on a quiet road leading up to the Downs. There are two separate drinking areas in the bar. There is also a real fire, and on the walls are bits of equine memorabilia. The pub is known locally for its food (not served Sunday or Monday evening). Children are allowed in only if eating. One guest beer from Punch list is sold, which changes once in a while. According to legend, at dawn on certain Derby days, the name of the predicted winner mysteriously appears in chalk near the front of the pub. (see above) Symbols explained
