This fine 17^th century, tile hung, brick built pub was very close to the Sussex border. It contained several pleasant drinking and eating areas off the little bar. There were real fires including an attractive inglenook. Formerly a Watney pub, it was bought by King & Barnes in the late 1980s from Gibbs Mew and was latterly owned by Badger. The pub closed in 2013 and in 2014 an application was made to convert it to houses.
